Farmer capability
Training completion, adoption of recommended practices and quality of farm records.
Impact
Afrifama is building practical connections between poultry production, nutrition, farmer capability and markets. Our impact approach measures more than participation. It follows what changes on the farm and whether those changes contribute to stronger livelihoods.
What we measure
These are the questions Afrifama is setting up to measure. They are a framework for the pilot, not claims that outcomes have already been achieved.
Training completion, adoption of recommended practices and quality of farm records.
Mortality, body-weight development, feed use, production consistency and bird welfare.
Production costs, egg sales, farmer earnings, repayment performance and business continuity.
Income stability, confidence, decision-making, women’s participation, youth employment and resilience.
How impact happens
The pathway keeps inputs, operating changes and longer-term outcomes distinct so progress can be measured honestly.
Chicks, stage-specific feeds, training, technical support and production tools.
Housing preparation, biosecurity, flock management, record-keeping and business discipline.
Better flock survival, growth uniformity, feed management and production consistency.
Stronger connections to inputs, technical services and reliable egg markets.
More dependable farm income, stronger household enterprises and capacity to withstand production shocks.
Current verified progress
Applicants are not counted as farmers reached or impacted. A figure appears only after its reporting date, definition and source have been verified together.
Farmer journey
Selection is only one point in a longer commercial journey. Each stage creates a record that helps Afrifama understand readiness, performance and continuity.

Where we work
Afrifama's current work is based around Mariakani in Kilifi County, coastal Kenya. We will add locations to this map only when operations begin there.

Stories from the field
Stories will be published as the first partner flocks progress through the production cycle.
Each story will name the farmer and location with permission, document the starting situation and support received, report a verified production change, include the farmer’s own words, and state the reporting period.
Evidence and transparency
Afrifama separates participation, operational progress and livelihood outcomes. We publish figures only after they have been checked against programme, flock and farmer records. As the pilot develops, this page will be updated with reporting dates, definitions and supporting field evidence.
